Cheaping out on the power supply is never a good idea, the PSU powers all the expensive components you have on your PC, and any issue with it, might cause damage on those components. That is why going with a power supply that is well constructed and has good components is absolutely necessary.

If you are on a budget and do not want to spend lots of money on a PSU, or just want something to power a low-end or mid-tier PC, it is possible to find a few models that are affordable and good for most use cases.
